Just plug it into the nearest computer with a high-speed connection and you can make and receive calls just as if you were home. VoIP has other more sophisticated services that you may choose to pay for. There are a few drawbacks. One is quality, although that's continually improving. Your VoIP won't work in a power outage, but if you also carry a cell phone, you'll be all right. There is one thing missing among many VoIP services, although it's being worked on…that is accessibility to 911.
