Distance Learning Degree ProgramEmployers Eye Distance Learning Degree Program with EnthusiasmA few years ago, a resume that listed a distance learning degree program under education would have quickly been added to the reject pile. But distance learning has come a long way, and it's no longer considered a less than reputable educational option. In fact, a distance learning degree program may very well provide an employee with more credibility than a program from a traditional brick and mortar institution. There are a couple of reasons a distance learning education is attractive to employers. First, there's the obvious reason. Many of the online universities are offering excellent curriculums in a variety of degree programs. These colleges have to compete with state run colleges and private university - they simply can't afford to offer an inferior product. There online institutions offer a cutting edge education. The second reason is a little more subtle. Distance learning degree programs require one thing that traditional college programs don't - a motivated individual. When people enroll in a standard college, they rely on their professors and instructors to nudge them along, with regular assignments, labs, quizzes and tests. It's not the same with a distance learning program. When you enroll in an online program, you have to be motivated. You don't have a professor standing over your shoulder. Instead you either succeed or fail on your own. You need to be organized and have great time management skills. Distance learning degree programs show prospective employers that you have many of the skills they are most looking for in future employees. Not only are you well trained with a quality education, but they know you are an employee that won't require lots of hand holding but can get the job done on your own terms.
