Some schools also have instant messenger options so that you can communicate with class members and have a "discussion" online.

Other colleges use a combination of online assignments with actual in-class lectures. Some people prefer this type of class. Which option is best for you depends on your learning style. Some people excel by working on their own, others need to hear a lecture and be there to ask questions.

One of the best features of distance learning is the incredible variety that is available in degree programs. You can find a distance learning college degree in business, nursing, psychology, computer science, engineering, accounting, and education. In fact, you can find a degree program in almost any area, with the exception of programs that require hands-on classroom instruction (like medical school). Even then, you can find a lot of courses online that help you fulfill the requirements for these degree programs.

There's a lot to be said for someone who is diligent enough and motivated to work while they attend distance learning education programs. It shows a level of commitment and earnestness that just isn't always found at some universities. Not only will you gain valuable work experience, by you'll complete the program with a distance learning college degree - both will be assets in your future success.
